Relaxed Portraits

I think a lot of my success as a wedding photographer over the last couple of decades is in large part due to my signature style of “Relaxed Portraits”.

From my early days as a fashion photographer, I learned how to find the good light and to see the best angles to make you look amazing in photographs.

When you look at my images, notice how natural and comfortable everyone looks. No forced smiles, no cheesy poses, no unflattering angles, no bad shadows.

Just simple, clean, timeless images of people looking their best!

I feel my true gift is making you guys feel comfortable in front of my camera. And when you’re being yourself, not worried about posing, that’s when the magic happens!

Real Moments

Anna and Josh were cracking up at the best man's hilarious and heartfelt toast.

Your wedding is a once in a lifetime event.

You’ve been dreaming about it since you were a little girl.

You’ve been planning it for what seems like forever.

You’ll be surrounded by your closest friends, your loved ones... and your new in-laws ;-)

The day will come and go just like that.

That's why photography is important.

While I love shooting my signature style of relaxed portraits... most of the images I will capture at your wedding are of the events of the day... as they unfold, and moments as they naturally occur.

I won't be bossing you around, telling you what to do, or getting in the way.

I will tell your story in a thoughtful and artful way assuring your memories will last a lifetime.

My goal is to show up at your wedding as if I were an old friend with a fancy camera and I'll do my best to blend in like a fly on the wall.

Of course I'll let you know if I need your attention for a few portraits, but for the most part... I just want you to relax and enjoy your day.

Don't worry about the photos... that's my job (and I'm not worried one little bit!)

Destination Weddings

Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Playa del Carmen, Mexico

The day after I launched my very first website back in the mid 90's, I got a call from a bride that found me on Yahoo (this was before Google existed). She was getting married in Destin, Florida and "just had to have me fly out from California to shoot her wedding"!

At first I thought it was odd that she didn't want to hire a local photographer, but she was willing to cover all of my travel expenses on top of my photography fees, so off I went!

When I showed up at the rehearsal dinner, many of the guests knew that I had flown in from "Hollywood" and that I was "an amazing photographer" (their words). Apparently the bride had been bragging about me for months and for the first time in my young career as a wedding photographer... it made me feel really special!

I realized that the bride & groom had gone to the extra effort and expense to have me at their wedding because they really wanted me! They appreciated my style of photography and spared no expense to have me document their day.

Since then, I have traveled the world shooting destination weddings for the coolest couples on the planet and I absolutely love it. When couples make that extra effort, and pay the additional expense, I feel I owe it to them to kick it up a notch and make certain that they are going to absolutely cherish their wedding photographs for years to come.

Here are just a handful of destinations that I have shot at over the last 20 years:

Real Weddings

All photographers, myself included, hand pick our portfolio images in order to show off our very best work.

There's nothing wrong with that... you can get a very good sense of a photographers style, especially if they consistently deliver a similar style wedding after wedding.

I am particularly proud of the portfolio I have been cultivating over the last 20 years as a wedding photographer, but I also feel it's important to show actual wedding albums so that you can get a complete picture of my abilities to document your entire day.

I want to tell the story of your wedding in photographs. Of course my number one priority is to capture "Relaxed Portraits & Real Moments", but I'll also be sure to photograph all of the details that went into making your day unique.

When my team and I design your handcrafted leather album(s), we take as much pride in building the album(s), as we did in capturing the images.

Here are a few recent weddings that will give you an idea of what your album design may look like:

Picture this...  it's your big day.

You've been dreaming about it since you were a little girl.

You've been planning it for what seems like forever and you are marrying the man of your dreams.

Your hair and make up are flawless.

You look amazing in that dress!

All eyes will be on you.

When the wedding is over... the food has been devoured, the cake has been cut and the flowers have wilted...

All that remains is the photographs.

Don't you want to look your very best?

Timeless Beauty

What I love about these images in this collage is that all of them are at least 10 years old, yet none of them look like dated wedding photographs.

I use my background in fashion photography to know how to find the best light and the most flattering angles to make sure you love the way you look in your photos.

I also feel that my gift is making people feel comfortable in front of my camera. And when you are comfortable and relaxed, I am able to capture the real you and your real smile.

My Better Half

I'd like to introduce you to my wife Ashley!

She is also a very talented photographer and sharp business woman.

We met when I first came to St. Louis to speak at a wedding photography conference back in 2011.

We have slightly different accounts of what happened next, but we both agree that we are better off together.

We got married on a dry lake bed outside of Vegas surrounded by our closest friends and families. There were no less than 5 professional photographers documenting our day, but I still had to shoot some bridal portraits of my love!

While we maintain separate business, at times we do get to shoot together, especially for destination weddings.

Check out how beautiful she is:

She's crazy talented too!:

Make sure you ask about having both of us cover your wedding.

Testimonials

BCKR3584.jpg
“One of the hardest things in a wedding is pulling off the bride and groom’s vision of their special day and Becker brilliantly captured it. His use of the people, scenery and location encapsulated the essence of our wedding. Not only did our guests recognize the beauty of all the images but Becker helped deliver unique memories that will forever be part of our lives. It was a dream to have him as our photographer and he was so wonderful and easy to work with which only reassured us that having Becker as our photographer was the best decision we made.” – Perla & Brian

“Becker was Awesome! I have followed his work for quite some time, so to have him photograph our wedding was great! He was really funny and made us all feel completely comfortable in front of the camera. We had a huge wedding party and he was able to control them and get great smiles! All of our guest were surprised how quick it was for us to get our portraits after the service. I have been to wedding where it seems like the couples are taking pictures all night, but at our wedding that was defiantly not the case! We love all of our candid photos. They are our favorite. It’s great to look back at the pictures and be able to relive all the emotions. My husband says he was fast and funny.“ – Brooke & Claude

"So many details and decisions go into planning a wedding. After it's all said and done though, the details are forgotten, and the moments remain. Hopefully you have someone like Becker to capture those moments. Becker so elegantly captured the happiness we felt that day and put us at ease that our photos would be timeless.” Lenny & Erica

“We recently had the honor and privilege of having Becker capture some of the most special and cherished moments of our lives, and it truly was the most wonderful experience from start to finish. From the very first consult we knew we had to have him, as we were awestruck by his incredible work and infectious personality. He is a true artist, yet also manages to evoke one of the most genuine and bright spirits of anyone you will ever meet. His wit, charm, and fun-loving personality make an otherwise unfamiliar task of shooting engagement and wedding photos into a feeling of hanging out with a close friend. He truly made our whole journey and especially our wedding day one to remember; and no doubt we will be able to relive it again and again with the stunning photos he captured for us.” – Jennifer & Brian
